US ambassador to SKorea slashed on face and wrist in attack

Lippert was attacked by a man wielding a razor and screaming that the rival Koreas should be unified, South Korean police and media said Thursday. 

Photos showed a gash on Lippert's face, starting under his right cheekbone and extending diagonally across his cheek toward his jawbone. He was also cut on one wrist. A hospital official in Seoul says 80 stitches were needed to close the facial wound.

흉기 공격을 받아 치료 중인 마크 리퍼트 주한미국대사는 5일 오후 "잘 있으며 굉장히 좋은 상태에 있다"고 밝혔다. 리퍼트 대사는 이날 오후 4시35분께 자신의 트위터에 올린 글에서 "(아내) 로빈과 (아들) 세준이, (애견) 그릭스비와 저는 지지에 깊이 감동을 받았다"며 이같이 전했다.
